Ghana's Textile Crisis
According to a 2024 report by the Human Rights Research Centre, Ghana receives about 15 million tonnes of garments each week from the Global North. Every year, millions of tonnes of textile waste, remnants from our tailors and about 40% of deadstock, end up in our landfills and oceans.
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. In Ghana, fast fashion waste is choking our rivers, beaches, and communities.
