PlasticKonnect

A rewards-based digital platform turning plastic waste segregation into a campus-wide movement at the University of Ghana.

The Challenge

Ghana's Plastic Crisis

Ghana currently imports about 10,000 metric tonnes of plastic annually. In Accra alone, approximately 300 tonnes of plastic waste is generated daily at a rate of 0.016 to 0.035 kg per person per day.

In three major fishing communities, La, James Town, and Korle Gonno, fisherfolk pull plastic debris from the Atlantic Ocean every single day. The problem starts with behaviour. PlasticKonnect changes the behaviour.
